How to read an OptiPlex model number.
Classic OptiPlex numbers have four digits. The first digit is the tier: 3 for entry, 5 for mainstream, 7 for premium. The third digit tracks the generation: 3060 and 7060 from around 2018, 3070 and 7070 around 2019, 3080 and 7080 around 2020, 3090 and 7090 around 2021.
Watch out for the OptiPlex 7010. Dell used that name in 2012 and again in 2023 for a completely different machine. The 2012 model has a 3rd generation Intel processor. The 2023 model has a 13th generation processor. The service tag settles it.
Form factor matters as much as age. Micro and small form factor units are the most common in Indian offices today.
From 2025, new Dell business desktops follow the Dell Pro naming. Existing OptiPlex fleets are bought under their original names.
What we check at inspection.
Equipment is inspected before the quotation. These are the things that matter most.
| What we check | Ideal | Needs attention |
|---|---|---|
| Generation | 8th gen Intel or newer | 4th gen or older |
| Form factor | Micro and small form factor | Large tower |
| Storage | SSD included and wiped | Drive removed or HDD only |

Other equipment we buy.
Questions, answered.
Yes. The Vostro 3470 small form factor is one of the most common office desktops we collect, often with matching monitors. Lots with or without hard disks are fine. See how one Andheri East office sold its Vostro desktops.
Yes. We buy the desktops without drives if your policy requires you to keep them.
Dell used the name twice. The 2012 OptiPlex 7010 has a 3rd generation Intel processor; the 2023 OptiPlex 7010 is a current-generation machine. The service tag tells us which one you have.
Yes. Monitors are optional. Desktops and monitors can go in the same pickup or separately.
