Networking buyback · Cisco

Sell Used Cisco Switches, Routers and UCS.

Buyback of Cisco networking and compute gear, with configurations erased on record before anything is resold.

The short answer

PrivAce Technologies buys used Cisco equipment: Catalyst and Nexus switches, ISR and ASR routers, Meraki devices, ASA and Firepower firewalls, and UCS C-series servers. Configurations are erased before resale because they hold passwords, keys and network maps. Value depends on model, port count and licensing.

No minimum quantity. Payment before pickup. Data destroyed before resale, with a certificate.

Why network gear needs data destruction too.

A switch or router is not blank just because it holds no files. Its configuration contains admin passwords, SNMP strings, VPN keys, VLAN layouts and IP plans. In the wrong hands that is a map of your network.

We erase the configuration and startup files and reset the device to factory defaults before resale, before resale. NIST media sanitisation guidance covers network devices such as routers and switches, not just drives.

Licences are the other issue. Many Cisco licences are tied to your Smart Account and do not transfer with the hardware. Meraki devices stay locked to your organisation until you unclaim them in the dashboard.

Inspection

What we check at inspection.

Equipment is inspected before the quotation. These are the things that matter most.

Before pickup

How to prepare the devices.

  1. Save configurations you need, then erase startup config and reload to defaults, or let us do it on record.
  2. Unclaim Meraki devices from your dashboard organisation.
  3. Note which licences are on your Smart Account; they usually stay with you.
  4. List models and serials, including optics.
  5. Keep power supplies and rack ears with each unit.

Questions

Questions, answered.

Usually not. Most Cisco licences sit in your Smart Account and stay there. The hardware is priced on its own merit.

Unclaim them from your Meraki dashboard before pickup. A claimed device cannot be used by anyone else.

Yes. Configurations are erased and the device reset before resale.
