How to read an HP desktop name.
The family and tier come first: EliteDesk 800, ProDesk 600 or ProDesk 400. The G number is the generation, and a higher G is newer. EliteDesk 800 G5 units date from around 2019 and G6 from around 2020.
The suffix gives the size. DM or Mini is the smallest, SFF is small form factor and TWR is tower.
In 2025 HP began moving new business desktops to simplified names, in the same way as its laptops. Existing EliteDesk and ProDesk fleets are bought under their original names.
